Mission:
The Lyrics Matter Foundation is a charitable organization whose purpose is to conduct skills based workshops for adolescents ages 16-24. Our mission is to inspire creativity, cultivate technical skills, and foster emotional well-being through workshops that integrate the principles of S.T.E.A.M.—science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Objective:
Our program is built on four pillars:
Hip Hop History: By connecting participants to the (5) five elements Hip Hop, we explore its cultural legacy and technological evolution, empowering individuals to use music as a tool for storytelling, self-expression, and healing.
Entrepreneurship: Combining creativity with business acumen, we teach branding, financial literacy, and digital strategies, helping participants build sustainable careers while enhancing their confidence and sense of purpose.
Artist Development: We help artists refine their craft, embrace self-awareness, and connect emotionally with their audiences. This includes techniques for vocal performance, stage presence, and using technology to elevate artistry.
Rap Techniques: Focusing on the technical aspects of hip hop, participants learn rhyme schemes, flow, and digital production while gaining an outlet for processing emotions and articulating their stories.
Beyond building artistic and professional skills, the foundation emphasizes mental health and emotional resilience. Through music and education, participants learn to navigate challenges, foster self-expression, and create a sense of belonging. By merging the innovation of S.T.E.A.M. with the cultural power of Hip Hop, we’re shaping future leaders, creators, and changemakers.
Goals:
Musically advanced students will work on a musical composition (solo or group) until its completion while exploring other positions that can be obtained in the entertainment field. Internships with distinguished music companies will also be awarded to dedicated and deserving students.

A Word From The Founder:
Being in the music industry for close to 30+ years and an artist for even longer, it behooves me to educate people with everything that I have learned. Experience is the best teacher and that is something that I can proudly declare that I have. This program will be fun for all while educational at best. When students walk out of the classroom each day they will be that much more informed about a world that was created to teach people how to express themselves honestly, freely and creatively. It also provides a myriad of entrepreneurial opportunities for young adults to flourish behind the scenes. I can think of no better way to give back to my community than by making myself accessible to those who need that upliftment. I am hopeful that this course grows into something larger than anyone's childhood dream and I look forward to being a part of that experience!
